Dispatch Guide: Which Dispatch Heroes Should You Team Up With?

Dispatch’s fourth episode contains several major decisions that can impact certain parts of the story. The main plot remains unchanged, but key scenes will take place among different characters or heroes, depending on your choices. One of these important decisions involves choosing a new member of the I-Team—a decision that must be made specifically during Dispatch’s fourth episode.

There are two options, and choosing between them can be confusing, especially if you don’t know what benefits each hero brings to the team. Here’s what players should consider in this situation in Dispatch .

After you kick one of your team members, Sonar or Kupe, at the end of Episode 3, the next shift is extremely difficult—you have to send heroes out on calls while short-staffed. Moreover, the hero closest to the ones you kicked out (Malevola or Bruiser) will leave the shift mid- work . This forces you to make quick decisions, which ultimately results in a large number of calls being missed (you simply won’t be able to send them out in time to cover them).

After completing his first shift, Robert will head to the break room, where he’ll chat with Vodoboy and share a few jokes with Flambé. At this point, Blondie Blazer will ask which of the two candidates you’d like to be an official member of the Me-Team. The one you choose will remain with you for the rest of the game and will be available for missions.

The decision is entirely yours, and you can choose either. This choice also earns two separate achievements, so if you wish, you can exit to the main menu and copy your save to a second slot to try both scenarios and earn both achievements without having to replay the entire chapter. If you’re still having trouble deciding who’s best for your Ya-team, below is an overview of the events that occur after your choice and the role of each character during shifts.

What happens if you choose Phenomacho in Dispatch Episode 4?

If you choose Fenomacho, Robert will meet him in the showers, where he’ll thank him for giving you a second chance. He’ll give Robert a big hug, and then the second half of his shift will begin, with calls where you’ll see him in action. When Blondie Blazer introduces Fenomacho to the rest of the team, no one will be happy to see him, given what he’s been through. Regardless, the shift will begin, and you’ll be able to send Fenomacho out on calls where his stats best suit him.

Phenomacho has some of the best starting stats in Dispatch. He has high Combat, Agility, and Endurance, making him a great candidate for a variety of challenges. As you level up Phenomacho, you can further enhance these stats, empowering him to successfully complete missions even solo .

Phenomacho synergizes with either Brute or Malevola. This depends on who you kicked out in the previous episode: if you kicked out Kupe, Brute will synergize with him; if you kicked out Sonar, Malevola will synergize with him.

The hero’s starting ability is a key stat. Fenomacho has only a 2-second cooldown, meaning he returns to action almost instantly after completing a challenge. This sounds incredibly powerful, but the ability also has a downside: if you fail or miss a challenge, the hero becomes depressed. In this state, his cooldown increases to a whopping 45 seconds—effectively putting him out of action for a long time.

At the end of the episode, you’ll have a conversation with Fenomacho, where he’ll tell you about Blondie Blazer, and your choices will affect his mood and your relationship with him. There will be additional interactions in future episodes, but nothing critical to the plot.

What happens if you choose Waterboy in Dispatch Episode 4?

If you choose Waterboy instead of Fenomacho, Robert will encounter him in the showers, unsuccessfully attempting to wash off the spaghetti Flambé threw at him. After a short conversation, Blondie Blazer will introduce Waterboy to the rest of the I-Team, and most will immediately begin to make fun of him. Once the second half of your shift begins, you’ll gain the ability to send Waterboy on any call.

Vodoboy has the worst starting stats in Dispatch. With Intelligence and Agility at 2, upgrading these skills is the best way to spend your points. Due to his low stats, it’s recommended not to send him out on solo missions—he always needs a strong partner.

However, things will soon start to change: after a few level-ups, he will become much more useful and will be perfect for the role of a support hero.

His starting ability automatically assigns him to summons if you’ve rarely sent him out before. He can only be unassigned once, making this ability somewhat questionable. However, there is a positive side to this: the hero gains +1 to his highest stat. This allows you to pair Waterboy with another hero and increase the success rate up to 100%.

His synergy works similarly to Phenomacho’s: he’ll pair with either Malevola or Brute, depending on your choice in Episode 3 (whether Sonar or Kupe was excluded). Sending Waterboy to train his abilities, which periodically appear, significantly increases his effectiveness: a +1 bonus turns into a +3, and another ability allows him to heal teammates.

If you choose Waterboy, it’s important to understand that he’ll be a liability at first. But as you level up, he’ll develop into a powerful support hero you’ll use frequently. At the end of the episode, you’ll have a similar conversation with him as with Phenomacho, where you can strengthen your relationship for future episodes.

What happens to the second character? (spoiler)

Later, at the very end of the game, when the villain Polog and his team unleash their full force on the destruction of Los Angeles , you will automatically recruit the second hero (Phenomacho, if you chose Waterboy in Episode 4, and vice versa) to your team. Thus, both characters will sooner or later become part of the same team, yours.
