At the start of StarRupture, the Vermin aliens pose little threat. However, as your base develops, they become more aggressive, dramatically increasing the risk of infection. The infection disables your shield, causing damage to your health. To survive encounters with Vermin swarms, you need to increase your resistance to infection.
How to increase resistance to infection
The primary method is to craft and consume Infection Res Plasm. This item doubles your resistance for 10 minutes.
First, you need to unlock the Plasma recipe at the Recipe Station. This is only possible after you find Glowcaps.

Where to find Glowing Mushrooms: The only place they grow is underground caves. You can only get there immediately after a “rupture,” when the soil is still ashy and the roots blocking the entrance have retreated. Look for large, glowing green mushrooms in the caves.
Unlocking a Recipe: To unlock a recipe at the Recipe Station, you will need:
- 40 Glowcaps
- 25 Prism Herbs
- 100 Data Points

Plasma Crafting: Once you unlock the recipe, you can craft “Infection Resistance Plasma” at the “Food Station” (unlocked upon reaching level 6 with “Future Health Solutions”). To make one, you need:
- 3 Glowcaps
- 2 Prism Herbs
Prismatic blue-violet grasses grow on the planet’s surface near bodies of water.
Important tip: If you plan to craft different types of Plasma (Infection, Corrosion, Heat, and Exhaustion), use each “rift” to go into caves and collect as many Glowing Mushrooms as possible – this is the main resource for all such recipes.
Usage and side effect: Activate the created plasma from your inventory. Your infection gauge will fill more slowly for 10 minutes. However, keep in mind that plasma adds 40 Toxicity. High Toxicity negatively affects your hunger and thirst gauges. It can be reduced with Purplants, but consuming them (or eating food from them) negates all positive effects from other consumables.
