RimWorld Guide – Save Locations

The main charm of RimWorld, which made this seemingly unassuming colony simulator a huge hit, is its unprecedented replayability. Each new save is a new, unique story. That’s why it would be a real shame to lose your save files, and to prevent this from happening, we recommend finding them and backing them up.

On Windows , there are two possible locations for RimWorld save files:

  • C:/Users/[Username]/AppData/LocalLow/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld/
  • C:/Users/[Username]/AppData/LocalLow/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld by Ludeon Studios/Saves/

This often depends on what specific build of the game you initially installed.

In any case, you’ll need to access the AppData folder, which may be hidden by default. To reveal it, simply check the “Hidden items” box, or even faster, press Win + R and type %AppData% in the window that opens.

For the Linux and macOS versions of RimWorld , the path will be:

Linux:

  • /home/user/.config/unity3d/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld/Saves

macOS:

  • ~/Library/Application Support/RimWorld/Saves/
